Description
Cowrie — kaudi — strung on gold-tone wire over a wound trunk and set on a cut wood base. The shells are real and vary in size and marking, so the canopy is never uniform.
Cowrie has been used as currency, as ornament and in ritual across India for a very long time, which is why it turns up on doorways and account books. We sell it for that history and because it is genuinely nice to look at.
What it will not do: it will not bring wealth or luck. It is shell and wire.
Care: dust only. Shell dulls with water and detergent.
